If you have a PC for a while there may come a point were you need to see your file extensions. For those not familiar with what a file extension is, its the 3 or 4 alphanumeric characters proceeding the dot (or ‘period’ ), e.g. for Microsoft Word document files can end in .doc, or .docx, the doc and the docx are the file extensions. Other common file extensions include .jpg, .mp3, .gif.
So this how do you go about getting your PC to reveal them:
Open My Computer, go to the Tools menu and scroll down to Folder Options… select the View tab. Under Advanced settings, uncheck the check box for Hide extensions for known file types, then press the OK button to confirm the change.
