Help:- “Invalid Update Control CTF File”
I turned on my Laptop and I see a message balloon saying ‘Invalid Update Control CTF File’ and it relates to my installation of AVG Antivirus Free Edition. Am thinking ‘my PC is under attack by a virus -again!’.
Then I calm down and try to deal with the problem at hand. After some time messing about with the settings, I came to the solution, that obviously works.
Here are the steps:
- From the Tools menu, select Advanced Settings:

- On the following screen, select Manage, which is found on the left hand side under Update tree:

- On the right hand side press Delete temporary update files, then if everything (the deletion goes fine) went OK, then you should see the following dialogue:

- Next carry out an update to finish:

- End
Notes: If you find that the update failed then try steps 2-3 again, and wait some time before going on the proceeding steps.
