Liger Equals Lion plus Tiger

What do you get when you cross breed a male lion (Panthera leo) with a female tiger (Panthera tigris)?
The Answer is: a Liger (Panthera Leogris)!

This is one of many example of human assisted breeding which usually leads to the outcome animal to be sterile or their offspring to be sterile. Ligers end up with short lifespans and it is though that they would not survive long in the wild because of diminished fitness.
